A 31 Year Journey
The One That Started It All
Meet Dutchess. She was a birthday gift to my husband the first year we were married. He had always wanted a Dane, so I surprised him with one. She passed away not long after this picture was taken. She would have been 14 yrs old in 3 more weeks. We still miss her. She taught us a lot.
We rescued a male harlequin Great Dane that became her 'husband'. We had so many people stop by the house asking if we were going to breed them. To start with, our answer was no. As more people stopped by, we started taking names and phone numbers. We decided to take that first step and breed the two of them; mainly because we decided we wanted to keep a 'piece' of them. We kept a puppy and found the rest homes. Thus, began our long journey of having Danes in our lives. We kept the practice of getting a list of people wanting puppies before breeding. We always joke and tell everyone to be careful....they're like potato chips...you can't just have one....LOL......And in our 31 year journey, we still have a 'piece' of those first two Danes in our puppies today.
If you decide to embark on a journey with one of our Great Danes, we hope it is as fulfilling as ours has been. Come on by, we'd love to meet you. We're in Barnesville, Georgia about an hour south of Atlanta.
